Shani Davis is ecstatic as he entered in five specific events in the Winter Olympics. This opened up possibilities to beat Eric Heiden’s great gold medal campaign in 1980 when he taken all five individual speedskating events.

Although Davis’ chances of completing a sweep are slim, the 5,000 meters is not one of his more favorable events—those will come later in the week in the 1,000 and 1,500 meters. Honestly, it would be an upset just for him to reach this event today.
